The DCU group solution enhances both the digital guest journey and business development

Dansk Camping Union

Reading time: Approx. 3 minutes

The Danish Camping Union (DCU) is a member-owned organisation with 45,000 members in 7 districts. DCU also owns and operates 20 campsites across the country, so everyday life in the association includes both organisational politics and business operations.

To ensure effective management tools and offer guests the best possible experience, DCU was looking for a supplier of a group-wide IT solution and it found CompuSoft. The National chairman of DCU, Anne-Vibeke Isaksen, explains about their choice:

“CompuSoft offers a robust group solution with booking portal, administration, POS, access controls and much more. Their profile also matches our own: the solution is developed and operated in Denmark, and CompuSoft prioritises sustainably and has its own wind turbine and solar park.”

Greater freedom of action with a focus on the guest

DCU and CompuSoft laid out a timetable for the implementation that spanned just three months. The timetable was adhered to, despite minor bumps along the way:

“It was an optimistic plan to install both software and hardware, but with a team effort we got the terminals, computers and printers up and running. The onboarding of DCU’s many employees at the campsites was also successful with a mix of face-to-face meetings, Teams training and 1:1 support.”

Anne-Vibeke Isaksen explains that DCU and the sites now have greater freedom of action because data can be readily accessed for task management and planning. Business Intelligence in the organization has been strengthened so that qualified choices can be made with regard to marketing, staffing, cleaning, preparation and ongoing maintenance.

The data-driven process provides freedom of action and the ability to react faster, but for the national chairman it’s important to emphasise that this is done with the guest in mind.

“The guest experiences a smooth flow with a high degree of self-service, all the way from booking, arrival and stay until departure. With the group solution, we can manage tasks accurately and act quickly to get staffing levels right and better allocate resources. There should also ideally be time to go for a nice evening walk.”

Far better equipped for the new demands of the future

The group-wide CompuSoft solution provides DCU with a common administrative system, online booking, POS functions, integrated access control and member management all in one solution. It has already made many tasks easier, but Anne-Vibeke Isaksen still sees it as only the “tip of the iceberg”. She explains:

“The group solution serves as a management tool that not only gives us an overview of operations, but also offers new opportunities to develop both the organisation and the business. At DCU, we can feel how camping guests’ demands are constantly increasing, and it’s imperative that we keep up with the times and secure DCU’s future.”

She envisions a future where the sites set aside part of their area for 24/7 self-service, while other parts are quiet areas. More and more people are booking at short notice and this trend can also be accommodated with a flexible system. Finally, the HR and personnel side of recruitment is playing an increasingly important role.

“We are better prepared for challenges such as self-service, late arrivals, employee care and new service initiatives with the business intelligence that the new solution offers us. The first experiences are positive and we look forward to utilising the many opportunities now available to us”, summarises DCU National Chairman Anne-Vibeke Isaksen.
